and boom goes the dynamite

Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

One Apple certification banged out. Next up is either hardware or server certification. Server will be the more difficult but more my area of expertise so it will really only require more review than hardware.

The exam today was somewhat difficult, however ONLY because Apple apparently didn’t hire a copywriter to check the sentences to make sure that, A. they are indeed sentences and, B. that they aren’t incredibly ambiguous in their semantics. I was done in 20min but stayed an equal amount of time to correct these issues.

As soon as I got home I jumped on Ubuntu and began customizing my latest install of 8.10 beta. So far I cannot complain in the least. The wifi was set up quickly after getting the necessary driver update. XGL was on the ball out of the box. My only complaint is that my skydome is all distorted on cube view and not sure if I have some extension f’ing things up. Time will tell.

I can’t say there is really anything new and exciting in 8.10. I’ll have to look over the changelog to test out the new stuff, but all in all at first glance its all very 8.04.

Update

So I realize I haven’t updated in a while. Can’t explain why really, especially since my last post I had 2months of relative nothing to do. For one thing, I haven’t been doing as many nerdy projects lately, I think its cause my comp is on a stand in front of our bed and not at a desk. Also I’m working now which zaps me and while it is a tech job, they’ve sorta… yet to read my resume or contact my references and place me in an appropriate spot.

In regards to what is new, I can say :

  • I’m living in Brooklyn
  • I have a tech job on W23 in Manhattan
  • I hope to get recognized at my job and get a promotion -or-
  • Hope to get the original job I’ve wanted since May
  • I am very happy
  • I’m in love
  • I am very worried about the future of our world
  • I’ve started DJ’ing again
  • I got to talk to Harrison Ford for a couple minutes

All in all not too shabby. I may elab on some other things in the near future as I got the WordPress app for my iPhone. (oh yeah, got one of those too).

I’m also to be taking my Apple OSX Certification later next week. I’m not too worried however I’m frankly not looking forward to it since I find it to be silly since Apple Cert tests are heavily subjective and ambiguous. I.E. my way is not always Apple’s way and therefor can produce a quote “wrong answer”. Luckily its about passing and not what score you get.

ASCII Update + Update to Previous Picture

This update will be, for the moment, in total ascii unicode fun time helvetica or something. I’m on my way out on the Melatonin Express and felt like burning some time before my train leaves as I know some of you have inquired what I am up to and why my updates have lacked their mise-en-jour quality.

There are two three two reasons why I am doing a text update :

  • The new version of WordPress and how it plays with images under both itself and in conjunction with the Firefox 3 beta is annoying. S’all I can say.
  • I don’t have the best access to my desktop and such as I am currently trying the very buggy “Ubuntu Netbook Remix

UNR is a way of making Ubuntu more simplified and easy to manage on a smaller sub-notebook. And while I’ve found myself ready to pour out an opinion, I think more time is needed. I can tell you that I think it is a great idea for sub-notebooks, it will not generally be great for notebooks 12″ +, it may prove great for simple users on any system, and it needs much more work. It is afterall in heavy beta, so no worries, I imagine it will turn out quite well.

As far as my life, I am currently in NYC and have been for the past week now. I’m currently looking for work (we’ll just leave it at that) in the area and have found a few leads, a couple of which are quite promising. The hope is that I will have installed myself somewhat permanently (tho nothing is wink wink cha cha) by July. I’m looking around in a sort of horseshoe manner at Brooklyn for a residence. One that begins in Ditmas Park and extends up to Brooklyn Heights around and over to Williamsburg. Also the East Village of Manhatten seems to be calling me as well.

As far as that picture I posted some time ago of myself in a psudo-tux, it is from a commercial shoot I was on that is now airing on TV if you haven’t already seen it. Keep your eyes out.

Well my train is arriving, I will post again soon on more updates.
